BSNL offering 20GB data at Rs 50 is a hoax

BSNL has cleared the air surrounding the rumour that it was offering 20GB data at Rs 50.

Mumbai: Over the past week, rumour mills have brewed up some fresh new gossip involving a lucrative offer BSNL is launching for its customer-base. The new offer, according to social media posts, will entitle BSNL users to a whopping 20GB of free data at just Rs 50.

While some people irrationally fell for the bait, it seems that the hard-to-believe news was a hoax.
According to numerous media reports, some people even went on to say that the offer was an initiative under one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaigns, ‘Digital India’.
While the initial offer was hard to digest, another section of netizens suggesting that the low-cost 20GB data pack could be shared among five friends was even weirder.
However, the news was soon put to rest by several media reports confirming the offer as a hoax. Sources from BSNL also said that no official declaration had been given by the company and it has no intentions of rolling out such a plan.
While the move could have been a huge crowd-puller for BSNL, the company is currently gliding along well and does not need to roll out such dicey offers.
